People going to the Lago d’Iseo whether by land, sea or air generally
have just one thing in mind: To enjoy the Franciacorta wine.
That, of course, wasn’t all we were interested in – we wanted
to
discover unknown territory and we would be positively surprised!
We were immediately spoilt at our Romantik Hotel Relais Mirabella in Clusane
sul Lago,
by its lovely ambience, the kind hospitality of our hosts
and the first-class food. And that was just the start on 26th June!
On 27th June we set off on our excursion to the Monte d‘Isola
accompanied by our charming guide.
From Sensole there was the opportunity to take a half-hour stroll to Peschiera
Maraglio.
Hanging out the fish.
In Peschiera Maraglio we had our first pitstop,
followed by a boat trip to Carzano,
where an excellent meal together with Franciacorta was waiting for us
at the Locanda Al Lago (a family-run business).
In Iseo that afternoon we were back on the mainland
where everyone could do what they liked for the next hour and a half.
After an aperitif in the park at the Hotel L´Albereta, Erbusco,
we enjoyed a gala dinner provided by Master Chef Gualtiero Marchesi!
The following day, 28th June, we were focused on the
Franciacorta.
Not just the drinking but in particular its history
and production
at the famous Fratelli Berlucchi vineyard.
This visit to Berlucchi‘s wasn’t just the aperitif for our meal
at
the Restaurant Il Priore in Calino
di Franciacorta.
We were not only spoilt here by the culinary specialities,
but we also enjoyed the ambience created by numerous
rare works of furniture and art.
One more jewel in the afternoon: The St. Nicola Abbey!
Back at the Hotel Relais Mirabella, it was time
for refreshments and a chill out. Beautiful!
A gala dinner crowned our final evening.
Even the starters were culinary surprises!
On 29th June one last look
from the hotel terrace over the Lago d´Iseo.
Now it was time to take our leave of this lovely area
and all it has to offer and make our way back to Brescia
Montichiari for our flights home.
Luckily we can always go back!
